  • Essay / Essay on the Civil Rights Movement - 744

The civil rights movement was started due to racial segregation and a fight for equal rights. The civil rights movement lasted from 1954 to 1965. It ended when the president signed the Civil Rights Act and also signed the voting rights laws. The Voting Rights Act was passed when black people could not vote. Organizations involved in the civil rights movement were the NAACP, SCLC, SNCC, and MIA. Martin Luther King played an important role in the civil rights movement because he helped defeat segregation even though he used nonviolence to demonstrate what he was doing. Malcolm X did not resort to violence unless necessary, so Martin Luther King and Malcolm X had different views. The civil rights movement only lasted a year, but it helped black people and ended segregation, which was very important because it was one step closer to ending racism. The case was made for equitable education because blacks were only allowed to receive an education until they reached a certain level in the civil rights movement. If she had never sat in front of buses, buses would not be desegregated and we would still be fighting for equal rights on buses. It didn't really start the civil rights movement because it was only a minor role during the civil rights movement. The event that sparked the civil rights movement was the murder. The three reasons why Emmett to Death played a monumental role in the civil rights movement are that death was a never-ending crime for black people, discrimination, and black people wanted to end violence through protests peaceful. Emmitt's death sparked the civil rights movement because his death was based on discrimination against black people because he was killed for allegedly flirting with a white woman. This is one of the main reasons why Emmitt Till was killed because of discrimination. Black people wanted to end the violence because
