INTRODUCTION BACKGROUND OF THE STUDY In second language learning, instructors and teachers have put a lot of effort into using various techniques and methods to ensure that their students have a better understanding of the content transmitted. However, these techniques and skills would be more effective if students' learning styles were taken into account. According to Felder and Spurlin (2005), different students have different learning styles. Reid (2000) stated that learning styles can be classified into three broad areas, namely cognitive, affective and perceptual learning style. Most of the previous studies conducted have discussed the preferred learning style itself in general and provided different perspectives on how students learn. . However, in this study the main focus is on perceptual learning style which refers to auditory, visual, tactile, kinesthetic, group and individual learners. These types of learners refer to those who learn a language most effectively by listening, seeing, experiencing hands-on, learning with others, and learning alone, respectively. Therefore, this study will provide specific student preference regarding perceptual learning style. PROBLEM STATEMENT Learning styles are a performance model that every student uses in the learning process, and it is well known that different students have different learning styles. The larger the number of students in a class, the more attention should be paid to differences between students. Teachers or instructors should not ignore differences among students, especially regarding their preferred perceptual learning style. Additionally, race and training differences are in the middle of the article......auditory and kinesthetic preferences as well as two social aspects of learning: group preferences and individual preferences.METHODOLOGYIn conducting this study, a number of respondents be selected from second year students majoring in English Language Studies at UKM, Bangi. This study uses the quantitative method using a questionnaire from previous research.RESEARCH INSTRUMENTSThis study will adapt Reid's Perceptual Learning Style Preference Questionnaire (PLSPQ). The questionnaire has 25 items and each of these five items is related to visual, auditory, kinesthetic, group and individual learning style preferences. It was the most widely used learning styles instrument among non-native speakers of English (DeCapua & Wintergerst, 2004). It has become one of the most popular instruments for examining the learning styles of ESL/EFL students, which is related to this study..
