  • Essay / Factors Contributing to Divorce - 698

Most of the people in the world are looking for their soul mates who will spend their whole life with them. When they think they have met the right person, they decide to get married. Marriage is the unification of two hearts. Couples share their lives and depend on each other. Unfortunately, many marriages fail and lead to divorce. When some couples fail to preserve their marriage, they resort to divorce. Nowadays, the phenomenon of divorce is very common in the world. Why do some happy marriages fail? Many factors can contribute to divorce. The three main reasons for divorce are: lack of communication, cheating and addiction. Lack of communication is a major cause of separation. When couples are faced with a problem, they lack the communication skills that could help them resolve the problem. Additionally, due to work and other activities, husbands may remain busy and away from their wives and children. As a result, women will spend less time talking to their husbands and may therefore feel lonely. Additionally, relationships sometimes tend to be cold when one party doesn't make an effort to listen, express feelings, or discuss issues with the other party. Some problems become worse when couples don't talk about them early on, because they're afraid of hurting the other partner. For example, having children is one of the important issues in married life, but some people don't want to talk about it. Thus, one of the spouses might think that they are not capable of raising a child. So they avoid trying not to emotionally hurt the other partner. On the other hand, sometimes spouses do not give each other the opportunity to express their feelings and opinions. In one...... middle of paper...... the spouse suffers from their addiction, and some do not change. Additionally, what causes a non-addictive spouse to decide to divorce is that their spouse is putting the family at risk and wasting money. For example, when people are drug addicts, they can easily sell out their family just because they possess dirty drugs. We need to pay attention to addiction because it is one of the most serious reasons that lead to divorce. In summary, a happy marriage can fail due to lack of communication, cheating, and drug or alcohol addiction. To have a happy married life, spouses must avoid these three factors. In fact, divorce has harmful consequences for both parents and children. Parents need to think a lot before divorcing. Recently, the divorce rate has increased rapidly. Will the divorce rate increase further? What can we do to stop it?
