  • Essay / The Pit of Human Depravity - 2575

The Holocaust was a catastrophic event that killed millions of innocent people and showed the world how inhumane humanity can be. This dark period in world history demonstrated unprecedented violence and cruelty against the Jewish race that led to genocide. Genocide did not begin with the Holocaust; nor was it a spontaneous event. Many harbingers of world events helped provide Germany and Adolf Hitler with the foundation to carry out increasing levels of human depravity (Mission Statement). These warning signs during the Holocaust include: Anti-Semitism, Hitler Youth, racial profiling, ghettos, Lodz, Kristallnacht, pogroms and deportation. However, their revelation comes too late for the world to help prevent the horrors of the Holocaust. For example, anti-Semitism never became a reality until the Holocaust overcame the attitudes of German citizens. He was also the driving force behind the education of the Hitler Youth. Hitler's persuasive skills made people believe everything he believed. This is how racial profiling was born; Hitler made Germans think that Jews were horrible, dirty people who did not deserve to live like Germans or have the same luxuries. As a result, they moved all Jews to an isolated area, away from German citizens; an area called the Ghettos. One of these ghettos was the city of Lodz, which kept meticulous historical records of everything that happened in the city. However, it was not a safe place for Jews; never feeling at ease, not knowing the uncertainties or dangers that await us. For example, in Crystal Night, they didn't know that it would be the last night for some of them with their families. In general, Jews simply lived... middle of paper... as much human depravity as one can imagine. Even though the genocide did not begin with the Holocaust, the cruel desire to "Aryanize" Germany and Adolf Hitler came at a high price in human violence, suffering and humiliation towards the Jewish race. These warning signs of the Holocaust, such as anti-Semitism, Hitler Youth, racial profiling, ghettos, Lodz, Kristallnacht, pogroms and deportation, appeared too late for the world to understand what was happening and help prevent the horrors that resulted. has arrived. The lessons learned from all of this provide a better understanding of all the scars that genocide leaves behind, past and present. Despite ongoing research in all of these areas today, we continue to learn new details and stories. By exploring the different warning signs of genocide, valuable knowledge was gained on how to prevent it from happening again..
