  • Essay / Robotics in Healthcare - 969

Advancements in technology have made it easier to create robots for use in healthcare. As Bill Gates said, the robotics industry is advancing as fast as computers 30 years ago. Studies indicate that investments in robots for health vary according to different reports, but the sums are around 40 million euros in 2009 (Healthcare, the road to robotic helpers, 2009), estimates indicate that the sum could reaching $4 trillion in 2015. (Health Care Market Place Project, 2007) Robotics offers many health benefits, including accuracy, precision (European Commission, 2008), faster recovery time and a minimally invasive approach, which directly benefited doctors and patients. The use of robotics makes it possible to create new technologies in the future. (Dr Quesada Ramirez, 2010)However, doctors and specialists are also concerned about the use of robotics for healthcare due to the decrease in human intervention in procedures and care (University of the West of England , 2010), as well as security. of patients and the high cost of technologies that can only be used in developed countries. The decrease in human intervention makes new generations of doctors dependent on technology and do not have skills in open techniques, which has also led to a growing gap in the doctor-patient relationship or in the family-family relationship. seniors if we refer to automated care of the elderly.
