    First ImpressionsPride and Prejudice, written by Jane Austen, deals with many common issues such as marriage, wealth, social status, and first impressions. Although first impressions can be deceiving, true character always reveals itself later. In the 19th century, prints, especially early ones, were of the greatest importance. An opinion or first impression can lead to future biases or incorrect assessments of a person's true character. Other times, an initial assessment can be perfect. Many characters, such as Darcy, Elizabeth, and Wickham, are treated unfairly because of the inaccurate evaluations of others. Darcy is one of the characters judged by almost everyone in the novel. Many of the assessments made of Mr. Darcy are wildly false. At first, everyone describes Mr. Darcy as a "handsome man" and "much handsomer than Mr. Bingley" (7). However, his impression of such a gentlemanly figure soon begins to fade. Mr. Darcy soon reveals himself to be “proud, above his business, and above being happy” (7).
