Essay / Nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki - 974
Toward the end of World War II, in Hiroshima, Japan, thousands of people died. The Enola Gay dropped a 9,000-pound TNT bomb called “Little Boy.” About 78,150 people died after just one count, but the radiation was still deadly. Three days later, another bomb was dropped. "Fat Man", dropped by "Bock's Car", was a uranium-235 bomb, although it did less damage than Hiroshima, the seaport of Nagasaki was still blown to pieces. In total, approximately 23,753 people lost their lives due to "Fat Man." The nuclear bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki did not help America because they started the Cold War, killed many innocent Japanese, and made other countries feel more ruthless than the Japanese themselves. The bombing of Hiroshima took place on August 6, 1945. ; at 8:15 a.m. Nagasaki was bombed on August 9 at 11:02 a.m., 1945. Although nuclear power has evolved and become more important since World War II, the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were the only nuclear bombs ever dropped. There have been bombing tests in areas unexplored by the United States and perhaps by Russia or Afghanistan, but none against other countries. The co-pilots of "Bock's Car" were Captains Frederick C. Bock and Charles Albury. The Enola Gay's co-pilots were Paul Tibbets and Robert Lewis. There were many other people on the crew of each aircraft with positions such as: captain, co-pilot, navigator, bombardier, electronic countermeasures, radar and radio operators, flight engineer, assistant flight engineer, tail gunner, shipowner and third pilot. The Cold War (1945-1991) was a race between Soviet Russia and America to see which had more nuclear power. No nuclear weapons were used in this war, but people learned to be ready....... middle of paper ......f both. The bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki at the end of World War II had a negative impact on America because they made countries think that America is more ruthless than the Japanese at war, they started the Cold War, and many innocent Japanese mothers and children died. Studying the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki and the Cold War shows that the Soviet Union was very bad and communist, but America could be considered just as bad to other countries. As soon as the USSR began to show signs of nuclear power, the United States immediately intervened while all other countries stood by and watched as America made the mistake of dropping two nuclear bombs on many innocent people . Besides bringing about the immediate end of World War II, the bombings of Hiroshima and Nagasaki were a mistake for Americans and for history in general, having a negative impact on America in its entirety. together..
