Taking Risks"Being adventurous is betting on the unknown, being willing to take a leap when you don't know if someone is out to catch you."--Unknown. This is one of my favorite quotes. He says if you want to be adventurous, you have to take risks. This quote reminds me of an evening I spent last summer. I was meeting friends to go bowling, an exciting evening planned by Matt, my boyfriend at the time. It was already eleven o'clock when we arrived. It was daylight saving time and we didn't know what day it was anymore so we didn't think about whether it was open or not and just assumed it was. Well, we were wrong. So here we are, a beautiful summer night with nothing to do. Sitting on the roof of our cars, we tried to think of some ideas of what we could do. “Let’s go to the swimming hole in the Highland Gorge.” Matt suggested. His idea was quickly rejected by one of his friends: "No, the water up there is pretty cold, plus none of us have suits." Cory said. Then it was my best friend, Ashley, who had a great idea: "Let's go see haunted houses." Everyone agreed on this, a night of excitement and adventure sounded like really fun. The four of us got into Matt's jeep and drove off. There are so many abandoned houses that were supposedly haunted in the small town where we lived. Of all the houses we visited that night, one scared us the most. The story behind the first house was that a scientist had lived there long ago and studied the wildlife. The scientist was supposed to report all his findings to the wildlife sanctuary he worked for. When he stopped bringing everything back to the storeroom, they went there to check things out. They never found the scientist and the house remained abandoned. Rumor has it that he went completely crazy living alone and eventually committed suicide in the nearby woods. Gay history, anyway, we went there to check things out. It was pretty scary, I guess, but nothing scary really happened, so we moved on to the next house. The second house we arrived at was really scary. There was a huge oak tree in front of him that protected the house from the moonlight..
