  • Essay / Analysis of the travels of characters from the past using the example of works of ancient literature

History of thought, humanity has always traveled. From prehistoric nomads to modern-day migrants and vacationers, there have always been different types of travelers who travel for different reasons. Examining ancient texts and observing today's world, it's clear that travelers of all types are rooted in a sense of betterment and that their journeys have the power to teach all kinds of lessons. People travel for many reasons, including seeking a better life, to gain power, to gain wealth, or to expand their knowledge. However, not all travelers have such positive motivations. The Jewish Temple was destroyed by the flourishing Babylonian Empire, sending the Jewish people into exile. The prophet Ezekiel prophesied in the midst of this exile, because the people needed direction in this time of uncertainty. From the Jewish perspective, the loss of their temple, the house of God, was detrimental and made them question whether God is still present on this earth. Although the Jewish people were forced into this exile against their own will, they sought a new home in hopes of a better life. Whereas heroic stories like Homer's Odyssey come from the point of view of the attackers. In order to fully understand a situation, you must consider it from all angles. One-sided sources remain a problem in recording current events, leading to polarization of opposing camps. This polarization is particularly evident in American politics. Many media outlets are biased towards one political belief. Although efforts are being made to combat this problem, social media is hindering these efforts. Typically, sites like Facebook and Twitter use algorithms to show users more (similar) content based on other things a user has expressed interest in. This concept may seem harmless when it comes to showing dog lovers more dog videos. But only seeing the opinions of like-minded people leads individuals to have more radical beliefs. In turn, this makes people less open to compromise and less informed on important issues. In order to form rational (not radical) opinions, people must look at both sides of a situation and make their own judgments, in order to understand the whole situation. Once both sides of a story are heard, horrific events like bombings and mass shootings begin to follow a logical pattern that can be used to prevent further tragedies. For example, the epidemic of school shootings is partly due to students in schools not taking bullying and mental health issues seriously enough. Typically, student shooters have been abused at school and/or suffer from mental health issues. If these questions are..
