Essay / Juicy Couture - 765
According to Wikipedia, Juicy Couture is currently owned by the Liz Claiborne fashion company made in the United States. Juicy Couture was previously owned and founded by Pamela Skaist-Levy and Gela Nash-Taylor in 1997 until it was purchased by Liz Claiborne in 2010. It is now a global seller with its iconic velor tracksuits and other fashion wear which extends from clothes, shoes, perfumes, sunglasses and many more. I chose this advertisement from an online fashion blog called FiveFiveFabulous by two sisters who share their personal experience of fashion, travel and life. The ad shows a photo of a beautiful model wearing an expensive dress with designer shoes and luxurious accessories, in a Beverly Hills neighborhood. From what I have observed, social class is skewed toward white women, especially women who have money, good jobs, and/or higher levels of education. These factors help the advertisement because consumers with money, especially women, who see the advertisement will want to look like the woman in the advertisement; On the other hand, these factors hurt advertising because women who cannot afford the product, a beautiful dress, will move on and find something similar but at an affordable price. Overall, I think this ad is a success. The advertisement shows a photo of a woman standing on a well-mowed lawn, wearing a beautiful long dress with designer shoes and costume jewelry. From what I observe, the woman is in a neighborhood in Beverly Hills with a large house and a well-landscaped landscape. There is an old high-end car parked on the side of a very clean wide road. Along the sidewalk are tall palm trees spaced nearly ten feet apart. The main appeal of the Juicy Couture ad is the pathos, which is driven by emotion and plays on the audience...... middle of paper.... ....the ad, I would feel so glamorous; I would feel like someone, so I think I would fall into a category of woman with an air of wealth and power. However, I could buy a similar dress from Forever21 and feel glamorous, but I would less likely feel like a woman with an air of wealth and power. Therefore, I would most likely opt for a juicy couture product and feel like a real woman. This advert is successful because it speaks clearly to its target audience as the message reaches them. The advertisement is very effective because it gives the impression that the model is so perfect that this woman also wants to look like that. The colors used are so attractive that they capture the attention of the audience. I would definitely consider purchasing the Juicy Couture dress for a formal occasion, over a dress from Forever21 as Juicy Couture has better quality material..
