The Health Care Reforms Act of 2010 or the Affordable Care Act introduces the universal form of health care. The ACA seeks to reduce health care costs and allow people to be more involved in their own health care. The ACA intends to make health care more affordable and increase access to health care by expanding the government's Medicaid program to financially disadvantaged people, such as low-income people, people with disabilities, and people over 65. (Arvantes, 2010). Health care reform ensures every individual in America has government or private insurance to cover their hospital bills. Additionally, 60% of U.S. citizens have their health insurance covered by their employer. Most of these citizens are employees of small or large companies. This means that the introduction of health care reform has different effects on businesses. This article seeks to examine the different effects that health care reforms will have on small and large businesses in the United States. The paper compares the impact of the current healthcare system on businesses with the impact that proposed healthcare reforms will have on businesses (UDHHS, 2010). Some critics have expressed concerns that the health care reform law of 2010, also known as "ObamaCare," would have negative effects on businesses. This article brings together several rigorous studies that address the proven effects of health care reform on small businesses and corporations. The paper also presents the impact of health care reform on costs, coverage and employer offerings, based on an Urban Institute survey presented using a simulation model of health insurance policy (HIPSM).
