As students from underrepresented groups strive for and access higher education, the diverse perspectives they foster innovate and challenge societal norms that will benefit society. In higher education consulting work, if underrepresented groups are not helped in various ways, it defeats the purpose of higher education to foster innovation and challenge societal norms. NACADA's Core Values Statement states that "Advisors are sensitive to the values and morals of the surrounding community aimed at making higher education more accessible through educational opportunities and resources." Bright students who do not receive academic or financial aid will focus on factors that do not concern their overall personal growth during graduate school.
