    Literature Review “Introduction to Special Issues on College Student Mental Health” College student mental health awareness has become a captivating and very popular with researchers over the past decade. After a series of damaging school shootings perpetrated by mentally and emotionally unstable students, fellow students at other universities began to worry about the mental state of their peers. The researchers studied to discover a pattern in the students' relationships and their psychosocial lives. Linda G. Castillo (affiliated with Texas A&M University) and Seth J. Schwarts (University of Miami) wrote the article. In April 2013, “Introduction to the Special Issue on College Student Mental Health” was published in the Journal of Clinical Psychology. In the article “Introduction to the Special Issue on College Student Mental Health,” an informative overview of the organization Multi-Site University Study of Identity and Culture (MUSIC) collected data from thirty universities to study psychosocial, relational, cultural and health-related constructs among students. The article presents students' perspectives and concerns regarding the mental health of their peers and the services provided by campuses. In 2010, when the American College Health Association administered the National College Health Assessment survey to over thirty thousand students across thirty-nine campuses, the surveys showed an exponential increase in psychological problems (2013). This survey, in conjunction with studies of college students, suggests that students, primarily women and minorities, actually suffer from depression and mental health issues that may go undiagnosed or untreated.
