Paparazzi have had a huge impact on almost everyone's lives. People can see it every day, from their favorite news channel to social websites. People also tend to see it in magazines and, in rare cases, entire books. Without it, celebrities would not be as famous as they are today. Its intensity varies from place to place. For example, France is known for respecting the lives of celebrities and their children, while other countries like Hollywood even try to conflict with them. (“What is the Paparazzi?”) Media attention can affect the lives of everyone, from celebrities and their families to ourselves. “We have a love-hate relationship,” says Halle Berry. “I need them, and they need me.” (“Halle Berry Testifies for Strict Paparazzi Laws”) This is how most celebrities view their jobs, but others lean more toward a specific side. Celebrities like Angelina Jolie and Ben Affleck have criticized their ways. Steven Tyler, a very popular singer, actor and film composer, even tried to pass a certain bill in Hawaii called the “Steven Tyler Act” against the paparazzi and their invasive methods. (Paulson 'First Amendment Center') This bill actually passed, with the support of twenty-three out of twenty-five senators, expressing that photographers tend to invade First Amendment rights. (Paulson 'First Amendment Center') Not all evil attracts media attention. Many celebrities would not be popular without media attention. For example, the Kardashians couldn't live the way they do without them.
