In the face of emerging infectious diseases and the increasing incidence of drug resistance among pathogenic bacteria, it is incumbent on researchers to search for new antimicrobials. Despite increased knowledge of microbial pathogenesis and the application of modern therapies, morbidity and mortality associated with microbial infections remain high. Therefore, there is a demand to discover new strategies and identify new antimicrobial agents to develop the next generation of drugs or agents to control microbial infections. Fungi produce a wide range of secondary metabolites with high therapeutic value such as antibiotics, cytotoxic substances, insecticides, compounds that promote or inhibit growth, and are gaining importance for their biotechnological applications. The research work focuses on the synthesis of secondary metabolites from the cultivation of Penicillium species and on the evaluation of the bio-effect of bioactive compounds against selected pathogenic bacteria. Keywords: Antimicrobial activity; Bioactive compounds; Identification; Penicillium speciesIncreased use of antibacterials and...
