Effects of AutomobilesThink for a second, what do you use almost every day to get where you need to go? You probably think of an automobile, because almost everyone owns one. Automobiles have become so common; Nine out of ten families in the United States own some type of vehicle. Now imagine living everyday life without it, it would be almost impossible! Automobiles have had a very positive impact on the world and the lives of many people. However, they have also had quite a negative effect on the world and life. Automobiles make getting to and from a destination much easier. Even though automobiles have polluted the world and consumed a lot of natural resources to operate, they remain a pleasant luxury that many cannot live without. Automobiles are very reliable if they are kept in good condition and do not rely on public transportation. To begin with, the negative effects of automobiles are very slight and should not be taken too seriously, even if it seems bad, the positive outweighs the negative. Automobiles deplete many natural resources such as steel, aluminum, copper, lead, zinc and rubber (The Environmental Impact of Automobiles). Due to automobile air pollution, wheat, corn, soybean and peanut crops have lost between one point nine and four billion dollars (The Environmental Impact of Automobiles). The United States alone uses more than 10.8 million barrels of oil every day just to run automobiles (The Environmental Impact of Automobiles). Then many people died or were injured in motor vehicle accidents. Every year, around 5 million people are injured. in vehicle-related accidents (The environmental impact of automobiles). Although this is all in the middle of paper, advanced technology that we cannot do without in modern life. Our lives are based on our automobiles, without them most of us cannot accomplish daily tasks like going to work/school or going to places of entertainment and relaxation.
