Essay / The Cambodia Genocide - 1218
International aid from the United States and other countries is often diverted by bureaucrats to their private accounts (worldwithoutgenocide.org). Pol Pot, the orchestrator of the genocide, died in 1998, and Khieu Samphan and Nuon Chea, two important leaders of the Khmer Rouge, were sentenced to life in prison in August 2014. However, the Cambodian people feel having been deprived of justice. Today, the Cambodian people rely on agriculture and continue to have one of the poorest economies in Asia. There is little or no industrialization and communist forces are still present in their government. Most revenues come from tourism and fabrics, but they are not enough to counteract Poland's backward movements.
