  • Essay / Levels of Government - 884

Independent regulatory commissions exercise all three branches of government, one of which is the legislative branch. The powers of the legislative branch are to enforce laws passed by Congress and establish policies. The legislature also has the power to confirm federal appointments and remove federal officials. Often, the legislature raises money and decides how that money is spent. Some funds are used to help government officials in their campaigns. The powers of the non-legislative branch are to amend the constitution to be consistent with today's laws and government, but some amendments have not made it through the full process, such as amending the budget and praying school. amendment. The constitution gave the non-legislative branch the power to impeach officials such as the president, such as when they decided to impeach President Clinton even though he won by acquittal by the Senate and was still able to remain in the House White and complete his term. They have the right to remove from office any official for treason, corruption and other serious crimes. They give advice and give their agreement to people appointed by the executive power. When the president wishes to appoint federal judges and senior officials, he then asks for “OK” from the non-legislative branch. Over time, Congress has conducted investigations such as the most recent one into Toyota recalls. Because of all the problems with imported vehicles, this gives the right to the non-legislative branch to conduct these investigations because there are so many people in America who own these cars. Lobbyists are people who are committed to persuading a legislator to pass laws that are favorable and to defeat those that are not in their interest or interest....... middle of paper ... ...f these groups date back to the 19th century but most were created in the last four decades such as specialty groups and political action committees. I think the framers of the Constitution believed that lobbyists would help Congress by keeping people informed about developments on political issues and helping people form opinions on those issues. . I doubt they would have thought that some of these lobbyists would ever try to persuade members of Congress to pass laws that weren't realistic and help elect members to Congress who weren't supposed to be there in the first place.
