Essay / The Ballad of the Sad Café and Quicksand - 983
Although people come from different backgrounds and lead different lives, they may share common interests. People also make all kinds of different choices in life, and those choices can have similar outcomes to others. In the novel “Quicksand,” the image of Helga Crane is unstable, because she is African-American and white. This instability in his life leads him to make decisions impulsively and not consider the repercussions of his choices. Helga makes some important choices in her life, including where to move, what type of job she takes, and who she will marry. The consequence of these decisions is that Helga finds herself alone in life. In the story “The Ballad of the Sad Café,” Mrs. Amelia has a stable and confident self-image. Mrs. Amelia is different from Helga because she does not leave her home and move to different places in search of happiness. However, she is similar to Helga, as she falls in love and becomes like a prisoner in her own home. Helga Crane and Mrs. Amelia live differently and make different choices, but they are similar because they both share the loneliness and isolation of their choice to fall in love. Helga Crane makes her choices based on two factors, her identity and her money. These two factors lead him to make irrational decisions. In turn, these irrational decisions cause his isolation and loneliness in life. Helga, who is African American and white, views herself negatively because of her race. She also feels alone and different from others because she is multiracial. Helga tries to compensate for the negative aspects of her life by making impulsive decisions about where to live, work, and who to marry. Feelings of isolation and loneliness is middle of paper......love. Even if they come from different backgrounds and make different life choices. Helga and Miss Amelia are alike, as they become like prisoners in their own home. Helga is unhappy because she is multiracial. She tries to create her own happiness by moving to different places. She surrounds herself with different friends but that doesn't make her happy. Helga hopes to marry a pastor and have children, that will make her happy. However, this doesn't make her happy, it only causes her depression. Miss Amelia does not surround herself with people for pleasure but rather for work. When she tries to love again, it leads to her never leaving the safety of her home. People can come from different backgrounds and live different lives. Ultimately, people are more alike because the choices they make in life can have the same ending..
