INTRODUCTIONWalgreens is the first company to introduce a diversity and inclusion program within its company, giving it a first-mover advantage over the market. Through this strategy, the company was able to bring together a variety of skills and knowledge that competitors did not have in their distribution centers, thereby increasing their efficiency and productivity. This article will discuss the pros and cons of hiring people with disabilities. And how these downsides are not as problematic as we think, and how some of the risks associated with these downsides can be mitigated. Additionally, this diversity and inclusion program should be included in Proctor & Gamble because their purpose and core competency align perfectly with the program's goals. BENEFITSOften, people are reluctant and hesitant to hire people with disabilities for the reasons following:1. Disabled employees have higher rates of absenteeism than those without disabilities2. Disabled people are unreliable3. Employees with disabilities will need assistance with their entire job/task4. The company will incur additional expenses to accommodate employees with disabilities5. Accident rates will increase due to the hiring of disabled employees6. People with disabilities are less productive at work. However, these perceptions about hiring employees with disabilities are all myths. The inclusion program introduced by Walgreens demonstrated that hiring employees with disabilities is in no way correlated with the perception/belief people have about employees with disabilities.
