  • Essay / Art Analysis: Diego By Andres Martinez, Jr. - 1181

Diego was the only part of the exhibit that was two-dimensional. As I approached Diego, I was consumed by him. Honestly, I was curious why this was part of the exhibit. When I took a good look at the work, it left me with even more questions. The person in the work was expressionless, but through her eyes I knew she had a story to tell. I found myself analyzing the work to try to determine the story behind it. I chose this work because it aroused emotion and curiosity in me. After hearing the background of this portrait, I understood why it aroused so many emotions in me. I can completely understand the artist's reasoning for the method used to create the portrait. Trying to erase painful memories of losing a loved one. I was attracted by the face of the person in the portrait. Even though I don't know Diego's whole story, I still feel like I sympathize with him. His facial expression makes me think he's lived a hard life
