  • Essay / Advantages and Limitations of Motion Graphics - 2044

Any information that might be easily forgotten or missed in an animated graphic can be effectively rediscovered in a static image. One advertisement that appreciates this is from the non-profit organization “SANCCOB Saves Seabirds”. This shocking campaign aims to protect threatened seabirds and raise awareness of the critical situation of the penguin. The simplistic black and white design inspired by artist MCEscher depicts an optical illusion of penguins dwindling in number, resembling the decline of the species. This is wonderfully depicted in a freeze frame format, making it seem like the problem was caught before it was too late and that there is still hope for the surviving penguins. At first glance, observers may not understand the image, but with deeper interpretation, the message becomes more powerful. The same cannot be said for animated graphics where the message is obviously projected in front of the customers, which can cause boredom among viewers after a short time.
