Essay / Higher Education - 1011
Higher education is optional, but to enter a respectable career, one must continue their education in order to achieve their financial and/or personal goals. Adolescents who attend college use their extended schooling to expand their knowledge. The primary objective of higher education is to improve one's capabilities for one's future. There are many ways a student can learn from school, but liberal education is not a way to attract students to higher education. However, students can learn much more through experiences that have affected their personal lives. I agree with author Mike Rose's theory that educational needs are met to achieve a higher academic standard by teaching students information that can relate to their personal experiences and mindset. Proponents of liberal education, like author Allen Bloom, believe that college does not meet the requirements. country standards. In order to achieve a higher lifestyle, the student must “maintain himself in the intellectual deserts through which he is destined to pass” (3). Bloom agrees that students should not develop freely and that a college life structure will lead them to an easier life. However, books written by great authors like Shakespeare are not enough to teach students English throughout their lives. Bloom says: “No public career these days – neither doctor, nor lawyer, nor politician, nor journalist, nor businessman, nor entertainer – has anything to do with human learning. » (5) To be successful, people must learn through books that teach them the subject directly. They also need to study each subject more so that they can know what they are going to do in their future. Bloom believes that indecisive students are embarrassing because they haven't developed their true potential. A plan created to address liberal education's problems, called the Cornell Plan, estimates that other colleges don't have enough to teach their students a full four hours. years. The proposed solution, which consists of exploiting what already exists in the autonomous departments (general education), requires students to travel across fields. Regardless of their major, taking more courses outside of their major will help achieve their educational goals. Schools agree that students should take a variety of subjects. By taking additional classes, students are encouraged to look around and see something that appeals to them. Bloom doesn't just want to......middle of paper......chemistry. Rose barely wrote except during her school exercises and when her mother made her write letters to her loved ones. The textures of her environment attracted Rose to books. He then became interested in learning and found ways to continue his education. I agree with Rose because her teaching style makes it easier for students to adapt and learn. Rose states: “The richer your conception of learning and your understanding of its social and psychological dimensions, the more insightful and effective your judgments will be” (24). If an assignment is linked to the actual readings, it will be easier for the student to understand the ideas. If a topic is more analytical and has nothing to do with context, the more difficult it will be for the student to understand. Basically, the more enriched your mind is, the more easily you will be able to solve everyday problems. Not all work will have to be about our lives, but it will be much easier if the mission is more accessible. “That’s what we’re passionate about..
