    Many English teachers tried to improve my writing, but in the end, my writing was always mediocre. I had absolutely no motivation to try harder than necessary. Plus, I considered writing a waste of time and wanted to finish as quickly as possible so I could destroy my neighbors in video games or practice my jump shot. My negative attitude associated with writing stopped any possibility of development. Additionally, teachers and the education system made me cringe every time a writing assignment was presented in class. The first teacher who successfully sparked a personal interest in me developing my writing was my high school English teacher, Ryan Miller. I never imagined that a difficult English class at seven in the morning could affect me so drastically. Not only did I finish the course with an obvious improvement in my writing, but I also formed a whole new perspective on the world around me.
