HypothesisThere are many short- and long-term negative emotional and behavioral effects of witnessing parental conflict on children and youth.Definition of TermsAssessments : Anger/ambivalent pattern (noun): One of the three basic ways of dealing with background anger. Background anger (noun): A term in this context used to describe anger between adults. Affected pattern (noun): One of the three basic ways of dealing with background anger. In this pattern, children show signs of mild distress when exposed to anger between unfamiliar adults. Distress (noun): extreme anxiety, grief, or pain. Mediator (verb): relate indirectly to. Self-assessment (verb): A The child himself explains how he felt during a certain situation or event. Unresponsive Pattern (noun): One of three basic ways of dealing with background anger. Methodology To find credible information about the negative emotional and behavioral effects of exposure to constant parental conflict on children and youth, I used numerous methods. My first resource was the Internet. Here I first consulted the reliable databases recommended by my school. I then went to the Toronto Public Library website. Here I found some recommended school websites as well as a few others. Some of these allowed me to better access the websites already offered by the school. Others provided access to otherwise restricted websites or information. If not, please help me by providing me with websites which I then used to access restricted websites or get information about restrictions. I also looked at websites I knew and knew were credible.
