With the number of traditional families in decline, many people have questions regarding the sanctity of marriage, as well as how we define the family unit in its whole. The purpose of this report is to present facts and opinions about working parents and their children, the strength of marriage, and the effects of parenting arrangements on children in modern society. When parents regulate their lives in any way, including their work schedules and other career options, it is reasonable to believe that their child's well-being might be an important part of that choice; however, these preferences are not necessarily chosen “to save the traditional family” (Macionis, 2010, ¶ 8), as parts of this week's article suggest. Instead, these plans could be the best option available for raising their family affordably, reducing or eliminating child care costs. While it is conceivable that some people may want to maintain more established lifestyles at home, financial issues often determine whether a parent should spend more time with their child instead of additional hours at home.....
