When asked: “Why is it important to accept euthanasia?” » the answer is always to free the patient from pain, but why adopt a naive solution when there is hope? Take a second and think about how a person can say goodbye to those they love? The answer is obvious, it is impossible to let go of those you love. Therefore, one should keep an open mind to the following lines, whether you are against or for euthanasia. Euthanasia or what is called medical assistance in dying means the intentional termination of the life of a person suffering from a terminal illness. This is done either by offering a lethal drug or by stopping life-sustaining treatment in order to end the patient's life. Euthanasia is one of the most controversial issues today, as more and more people question whether euthanasia is a mercy killing or a hope killing. It is worth emphasizing at this point that euthanasia must be prohibited universally for ethical, medical and legal reasons. One of the most striking issues in euthanasia is the ethical consideration. Proponents of euthanasia generally suggest respecting the autonomy of patients and allowing them to value their quality of life. In addition to reducing the risk of premature suicide. It is true that every person should have control over their life. However, it must be taken into consideration that the legalization of euthanasia could lead to constraining the autonomy of patients, especially since a person's desire to die may be influenced by depression or even curable pain. A good illustration of this might be the case of a patient who chooses to end their life because they feel guilty about the burdens they inflict on their family (The Australian Psychological Society Ltd, 2008).
