In contemporary society, showing up for Halloween dressed as a goblin, zombie, or ghost is less likely to result in a loyal follower of the event receiving sufficient appreciation. Popular culture managed to replace the underworld by providing influential costumes for the event. The fact that individuals of different races increasingly dominate pop culture poses a number of problems for costume enthusiasts. The most dominant question has always been whether it is ethical to dress or appear dressed as someone of a different race during Halloween. This factor largely relies on the costume an individual chooses and how they end up presenting the costume. It also depends on what the person wearing the costume represents or duplicates at the event.
