  • Essay / Essay on Dropout - 1564

The problem of the dropout rate in the United States affects not only their future, but also the economy, taxpayers, and well-being of the country. According to the National Center for Dropout Prevention, “each class of school dropouts will cost the country more than $200 billion over their lifetime in lost earnings and unrealized tax revenue.” With a total number of 8,300 high school students dropping out per day and 3,030,000 per year. (Statistical Brain). “Dropping out is defined as leaving school without a high school diploma or equivalent degree such as a General Educational Development (GED) diploma.” In fact, people who did not earn a high school diploma face many more challenges later in life than those who did. It is very disappointing and dangerous to see how the dropout rate in the current generation is accelerating every day among students who make the decision to abandon their studies. There are many reasons why teenagers decide to drop out of high school, such as pregnancy, lack of interest, boredom, academic difficulties, and lack of parental support. The most important thing is that dropping out of school is preventable and that solutions and help also exist for those who made the wrong decision to leave high school without obtaining a diploma. The three solutions I propose to prevent students from dropping out of high school are more parental support, more community opportunities, and last but not least, improving the school system. There is no doubt that education is the key to success and getting a high school. The degree opens the door to other rewarding long-term career opportunities. The high school diploma is necessary because it provides the opportunity to earn a good salary. Apparently, teens who drink... middle of paper......there are benefits to getting a high school diploma. This solution is the best and most important contribution to ending the dropout crisis because parental support plays a major role in the student's education. Conclusion: School dropout has a significant long-term impact on the economic life of the individual. Obtaining a high school diploma has become a fundamental prerequisite for many jobs, as well as for access to colleges and universities. In today's economy, it is very difficult to find a good, well-paying job and even more difficult when you do not have a high school diploma. This is a crisis that federal governments, communities, school districts, parents and everyone should pay more attention to and find a solution that would help reduce dropout rates in the United States. United. I believe this problem can be solved by supporting state and local efforts to address educational and economic inequality..
