Essay / Police Case Study - 1045
Discuss the police from an institutional perspective. Intuitive theory is defined in different ways, for example: “Institutional theory addresses the central question of why all organizations in a field tend to look and act the same way (DiMaggio & Powell, 1983). This definition illustrates how organizations modify their response to their institution depending on the environment and can achieve stability in their own environment. An organization, when it comes to survivor tents, must focus outward to recognize its influence groups and the value they represent. Police departments are ideal examples of an institutional organization because they must demonstrate in their organizational performance and policies that they care about the concerns of citizens. Organizational institutions have three major elements of institutionalized organizations. Still, this theory is very beneficial for many organizations, but it can be determined by a best-fit approach, which examines the capacity of an organization's vision, goals, mission, and strategic plans. Furthermore, the causal roles of values, norms, rules, procedures, and structures of institutional theory all lead to a particular outcome. The essential idea of institutional theory applied to the police, from my point of view, I believe that the activities of the police are understood in the environmental context. It also gives structure to the entire organization; this is the primary model for which the police department is organized.
