  • Essay / Learning Styles Discussion Paper - 1160

This theory is based on a student's internal motivation to learn rather than external motivation (Cassidy 989-1000). Learners in this theory focus more on actually understanding the material they are being taught rather than just keeping their grades high. Self-regulated learners go through a process of self-reflection every time they learn new content. They constantly check in with themselves to ensure they understand the content being taught and realign their thoughts if they drift to a different topic. I believe I am a self-regulated learner because I am motivated to actually learn rather than just receiving good.
