  • Essay / Difference Between Bottled Water and Tap Water - 2641

Some people may think that bottled water simply passes through filters that remove the chemicals it contains, and even though they are not wrong, they are however still in uniform. . Bottled water doesn't just come from streams and filters, but "40% of all bottled water comes from municipal water sources [aka tap water]" (Bottled Water Pros and Cons. 2014. Para 9). People drink bottled water so they don't have to drink tap water when in reality they are most likely drinking tap water mixed with their bottled water. On top of that, not only was bottled water filtered, but it was found that "22% of bottled water brands tested contained chemical contaminants at levels above strict state health standards" (Bottled Water Advantages and Disadvantages. 2014. Para. 9). In other words, even though the water doesn't have the same strange taste as tap water, it does contain chemicals that are unsafe to consume. When it comes to tap water that contains normal amounts of chemicals, bottled water is no safer.
