  • Essay / The Fame and Luxury of Nike - 1071

Today I am going to talk about the Nike brand and how it brings fame and luxury through its advertisements. According to Nike, you have to “Just Do It”. Advertisements for Nike are effective because they offer consumers the fantasy of being famous and having all the luxury they have always wanted. Whenever we think of Nike, most people know it. Nike Inc., founded in 1978, is still one of the most incredible brands in the industry today. Its famous swoosh logo accumulates up to 17 billion dollars per year. It's quite expensive for most but affordable for some people. The popularity of the brand still pushes the lower middle classes to buy the Nike swoosh. Nike also sponsors many top athletes and sports teams around the world, with the highly recognized “Just Do It” brands and the Swoosh logo. There are many commercials that promote fame and luxury, for example, in this commercial there is an athlete named LeBron James wearing his Cleveland Cavaliers uniform dunking the basketball. There is a completely black background with the words "We are all witnesses". In the ad, there is a big, bold white Nike swoosh which makes it more visible to the audience. When I first watched the ad, I didn't pay attention to anything other than LeBron James' dunk, but then I looked at the ad a little closer and noticed that the reason LeBron James was dunking in his uniform was because he was conveying the message to his audience. that we are all witnessing one of the greatest basketball players to ever play this game. Nike gives the visual image that the background is darker because LeBron James appears in the light, like a new monster. It's also a very small phrase, which encourages the audience to pay more attention...... middle of paper ...... 90s. The first was for "The Morning After", a satirical look at this what a runner might face on the morning of January 1, 2000 if all the dire predictions about the Y2K problem come true. The second was for a 2002 spot called “Move,” which featured a series of famous and everyday athletes in various sporting activities. "Nike has ironically been the most influential brand when it comes to fame and luxury through its athletes and celebrities around the world who are the most important things for teenagers. Nike will always be known as the greatest brand ever created .Fame and luxury are the most important things in life, right? Well, you can decide, but there can also be consequences and implications to believing this. that Nike ads are effective at promoting these things, but as Nike has always said: "Just Do It.”
