The world of children today is basically accepted as a world full of homework. Parents have become accustomed to this struggle and most do it willingly because they know that what is best for them is to make their child answer endless questions and fill out mountains of paperwork, but is it really the case? Think about it for a moment, the whole purpose of school now is for students to pass exams and make the school look bad (Enayati); no pressure, right? Fake. Because schools are under increasing pressure for their students to succeed, teachers are also under strain. These teachers control 7-8 hours of children's lives each day and are expected to use this time to prepare students to the best of their abilities in order to make the school proud on these government-mandated tests. What more could they want? Oh, that's right, all the kids live at home too. There is something seriously wrong with a government program that puts so much pressure on schools that they feel 8 hours is not enough time to train a child. Homework is a known cause of childhood stress, burnout, obesity, and actually has very few weak links to academic achievement. Saying they're stressed and have too much homework is a typical teen complaint, but studies have shown that this is the case. true (Does homework really work?). Having young children in the evening after school is almost guaranteed to throw a tantrum. The tantrums don't come out of nowhere, children are pushed to their limits and teachers may not even realize it. "Many teachers underestimate the homework they give by fifty percent, so an assignment they think will take 30 minutes is actually 45. Plus, if you add additional problems like ADD, it could become a hour" (Is Too Much H... ... middle of paper ... and I don't want anything to do with school anymore.
