Is globalization a benign or harmful process? 18461085International relations 122Clunies-Ross KotoGlobalization and its political changes. There are many ways to analyze globalization. In this essay, I will attempt to analyze globalization by examining economic factors as well as their impacts on international and national politics as well as communication. I will examine how globalization has influenced the modern world and how some people disagree with globalization. (Dwain, 2012) Dwain states that globalization connects us all over the world. The aspects of globalization are that we “connect” our economy as well as our products, our culture, our commerce and our people. It is believed that globalization will boost the world economy, share financial interests, increase travel and communications, and create a free trade market. Some historians believe that globalization began in 1492, while many believe it began earlier. Grant Richard, 1999) The reason economic factors are considered is because money and trade have a great influence on politics as well as the economic market, which changes policy. decisions. Joseph Stiglitz, economist, believes that globalization does not reduce inequalities but rather promotes them. Some countries, such as South Africa and the Caribbean, have been forced into the free market by larger economies that need poorer nations to produce primary and secondary products. while America produces tertiary products which increase their economic profit much more than the poorest countries. ‐(C Barnes, 2010) Poorer nations do this to get their share of loans from the International Monetary Fund which (International Monetary Fund, 1945)(Simon Jeffery, 2002). Poorer nations bear most of the responsibilities... middle of paper ......h, they are getting richer and the poor are getting poorer, along with many other reasons such as harm to the environment and cultural diversity. It's clear that people are more connected, and there's plenty of research showing that people working in sweatshops live longer and make more money than they would before doing that job. From where we are, globalization has been very positive because it has lifted many people out of poverty and connected our economies. The benefits outweigh the costs. The effects of globalization are obvious: many items in your home are not made in your region. Globalization has lowered the cost of living and made the world smaller. Globalization has accelerated resource depletion, but even in a world without globalization, there is no other model of resource consumption. Globalization is a good thing and has benefited many, some more than others..
