  • Essay / Hamlet by William Shakespeare - 1110

Many people experience a drastic change after going through difficult times. A person's perspective can completely change from a single experience. This person may change so much that other people might think they have gone crazy. In Williams Shakespeare's Hamlet, a character named Hamlet goes through a dramatic change that disrupts his entire life. Hamlet is the son of the King of Denmark. He has no responsibility and can do whatever he wants. He is immature and has little interest in complicated things, but everything changes when his father is murdered. He is forced to become mature and face things he has never faced before. His attitude and outlook are completely changed, and the reader discovers what Hamlet is made of. Hamlet shows that although trials can be frustrating and even devastating at times, they can also be very helpful in strengthening our character and revealing our mental, spiritual, and physical strength. Life is good for Hamlet, until his father, the King of Denmark, is assassinated. The spirit of his father comes to him and tells Hamlet to avenge his death. Hamlet needs to step up and become mature. The reader sees here what Hamlet is really made of. The reader sees him not only as a lazy and weak person, but also as a courageous man. He could have been a victim of his bad experience, but he chooses to overcome it and do as his father's ghost says. Christians can learn an important lesson from Hamlet here. Christians need to understand that when they are going through a difficult time, they should not give up and fall victim to it. They must be like Hamlet and overcome the bad experience. Just as Hamlet decides to do as his father's spirit says, Christians should do as God says. At first, Hamlet has a little difficulty knowing whether or not he should listen to the ghost. He's not sure if it's really his father's spirit. The inner struggles he goes through make his mother, Gertrude, and a few others worry about him. Eventually, he decides that it really is his father's spirit and vows to avenge him. The reader can learn from Hamlet's hesitation that one should not hesitate when put to the test. His father's spirit tells Hamlet that it was King Hamlet's brother, Claudius, who killed him by pouring poison into his ear..
