Essay / Ethical Hacking - 843
Ethical hacking, in my opinion, is as much an oxymoron as it is “constructive criticism”. Before showing that “ethical hacking” is just an oxymoron in the literal sense of the term, it is essential to understand the words “ethical” and “hacking” – their origin, meaning and misconception. “Ethics” can be defined as “working according to high morals and professional principles.” The original hacker was a person who loved tinkering with software and hardware, appreciating and exploring how things worked. They would tweak their subject to be faster, better, or different than what it originally was. There was nothing negative about being a hacker, until the word was repeatedly misused by the media as a synonym for "crackers" and "hackers." Due to widespread misconception, the words have changed their meaning today. Originally, while hackers are the good guys, or "White Hats", "crackers" are the malicious hackers who break into systems for personal gain - fame, money, even death. revenge. However, today's terminology presents hackers as the malicious ones, while ethical hackers are the heroes. Ethical hackers are those people who have chosen to serve their customers, working in businesses, rather than sitting in dark rooms, scouring the internet for exploitable victims and causing unwanted attacks. and unnecessary discomfort. They are the ones who have chosen their dangerous skills for the better: they hack into systems with companies' legal permission to report vulnerabilities that can be exploited by their malicious counterparts. Even though ethical hackers use the same methods as their less principled counterparts, we can confidently say that their intention is quite the opposite of the latter's.
