Ahad Ali Period 5th GarzaThe Comic Book Guide to Chemistry report: The name of this amazing book is The Cartoon Guide to Chemistry by Larry Gonick and Craig Criddle. This book is published by HarperCollins Publishers Inc in 2005. It contains 244 pages of pure chemistry knowledge. There are many genres in this book, but the ones that stand out are math, science, and humor. This book includes the chemistry basics needed throughout the year. It talks about everything you need to know, from the size of a small atom to a huge experiment leading to many new discoveries. The author's objectives in writing this book are multiple. One of them is to provide students with knowledge of the basics of chemistry. This book is an introduction to the life of chemistry itself. The theme of this book are elements, atoms, periodic table, matter, chemical reactions, thermodynamics, DNA, electrochemistry, reaction rate, equilibrium, solutions and much more! More broadly, the theme of this book is chemistry and its importance in our lives. There were many main points that interested me, but here are a few. In the early days of chemistry, Democritus believed that matter was made up of indivisible particles. Aristotle discovered that there were four main elements that were composed of everything else. These main elements were air, earth, water and wind. John Dalton said that each element was made up of tiny, indivisible atoms. This is called the atomic theory of matter. Then, Dmitri Mendeleev classified the elements according to their weight. This ultimately gave rise to the periodic table that we use every day. The scientist found...... middle of paper ...... that's because this book gives you the basics and understanding of chemistry, so you are better prepared for the classroom. I wish I had known about this book before starting chemistry because it would have improved my grades in class now. The Cartoon Guide to Chemistry by Larry Gonick and Craig Criddle is a wonderful book to read. This book explains the basics of chemistry and its overall purpose in our lives. The book includes valuable information on the elements, atoms, periodic table, matter, chemical reactions, thermodynamics, DNA, electrochemistry, reaction rate, equilibrium, solutions and much more . This book had a big impact on me and my life. I hope that other students will one day be able to pick up this book and read it, not for a required chemistry book report assignment, but for the joy of gaining more knowledge about this fascinating subject..
