  • Essay / South Korea's Past - 1317

South Korea is known as one of the most developed nations in the world; in fact, South Korea was a very poor country in the past. Many Koreans suffered from starvation because of the Korean War. As a Korean, I would like to introduce you to the history of my homeland. To write about my country, I found many sources in my high school textbook. Yunhun Kim is a professor at the University of Seoul; he wrote a Korean history textbook, South Korea Past to Present, for high school. This book explains well the reality of South Korea in the past; I will use this book to explain South Korea in the 1960s. Additionally, Sunghwan Ban writes a book, Growth Rate of Korean Agriculture, 1918-1971, to explain how Korea is developing well due to agriculture. I used this book in the same way as my textbook. Additionally, knowledge management and management learning; by Walter Beats can be found on the Google website. This book explains the meaning of infrastructure and social structure. This will be on my essay. South Korea: A Country Study by Matels Savada and Williams Shaw provides an explanation of South Korea from the perspective of foreigners. Finally, Okyu Kwon is also a graduate student at KAIST in South Korea; he made a PowerPoint presentation titled “Korea’s Infrastructure Development Experiences.” I googled and found these sources. I will use these sources to support and explain South Korea in the 1960s. How South Korea built its foundation in the 1960s to become a powerful nation. How infrastructure, social structure and ideology were created in South Korea in the 1960s. When people think of Asia, many immediately think of Japan, China and Korea. Have you ever noticed that South Korea used to be one of the poorest countries, unlike others? South Korea used to be middle of paper......their hair hurts the body parents give; it is therefore an inconsiderate action. Koreans have followed these ideas well in the past. This is why they retained agriculture instead of industrialization. Through agriculture, they also preserved a large family form. In addition, they retained the patriarchal system. According to the system, only men could address political issues. And women spend their time in quality life. They did not pass the exam and have no change in learning to study. Even if a woman is wiser than her younger brother, only her brother can take the exam. He’s kind of a wasted talented person; however, this is the rule in South Korea. In a way, this idea stunts Korea's development. South Korea is one of the fastest developing countries in the world; and they will develop more than now throughout the history of South Korea.
