Essay / The female characters in Voltaire's Candide - 725
By looking at the women in Voltaire's “Candide”, the reader will see that they correspond exactly to the actions and traits of the characters. Trying to define the women of “Candide” is important because we can begin to understand the motivations and reasoning behind every decision and thought made. These women understand that they have no real voice or power to change the world. The only way they can impact the world is through a man's body. These women may not have had the most successful or happy lives, but they lived the best lives possible despite the difficulties they had to overcome.
