Essay / Curiosity in Mathematics - 889
Peter Higgins, in his article entitled “Mathematics for the Curious”, he explains “in order to understand numbers in a useful way, a student must do a lot of arithmetic. It's not the answers that matter, but the development of the skills needed to get them. Doing arithmetic instills a basic familiarity with numbers and confidence in manipulating them” (p. 27). Arousing curiosity will not only help a person move beyond the basics in mathematics and support them as they reach higher levels of completion, but it will also help them retain valuable information which will lead her into the future of solving digital mathematics.
