Employees are increasingly interested in jobs with flexible working hours. What factors are driving this interest?Simple flexible working refers to any work schedule that deviates from a normal work pattern. This means that work schedules, instead of being repetitive and fixed, can involve changes and variations. This may mean that the employee has variables such as when they have to work or even where they work. There are some examples of flexible working: flexible hours, compressed hours, annual hours, staggered hours and job sharing. The scenario concerns a busy office with several employees wanting to enjoy some wellness relaxation time. An employee takes an aquagym class from 7 a.m. to 7:45 a.m. and arrives at the office at 8:15 a.m. Two employees are already at work at 8:00 a.m., when the office opens. At 11 a.m., another employee leaves for a 45-minute yoga class. Another employee plans her workout in the fitness center so as not to interfere with anyone else's exercise routine. In this environment, all employees encourage each other to stay fit. Another scenario that shows the use of flexible work schedules among employees in the organization is when another employee works in a unit that has a busy season in summer.
