(2007) entitled: “A communications strategy and brochure for relatives of patients dying in intensive care” and accurately reflected the content of the article and the research study itself. The abstract explained the article in more detail, while remaining concise. The type of research study, sample size, variables, intervention, measurement method, results, and conclusion have all been mentioned in the abstract. Problem Statement The problem explored in the article has been stated in the form of a problem statement. In this article, the authors explain the stressful situations of families whose loved one dies in the intensive care unit. They also claim that this problem is very important because there is poor communication between staff, doctors and surrogates in the care plan for end-of-life measures (Lautrette et al., 2007). Objective of the study The objective of this study was to develop a communication strategy for family members of patients dying in intensive care by evaluating a format consisting of a proactive end-of-life conference and a brochure for to see if the intervention could minimize the effects of bereavement for the families left behind. This research provided family members with more opportunities to discuss the patient's wishes, express emotions, alleviate feelings of guilt, and understand the goals of care.
