Faerûn is a lush land of rugged mountains and rolling hills, vast deserts and dark forests, teeming cities and empty deserts. It is a land of immense beauty and danger that plays in the ever-changing sunlight. A land where farmers, pioneers and townspeople ply their trade and live their quiet lives; where caravans snake across the landscape like giant worms, slow and bloated. Many brave and daring stories are told of these restless and adventurous young people of all races who run headlong in their mad pursuit for something more; whether it be fame and fortune, escaping an abusive home (land) or simply answering the call of the road. All meet their fate with varying degrees of success under the light of the sun or in dark ruins. Nonetheless, darkness has always held a sinister appeal, one that inexplicably draws many people to it, like proverbial moths bursting into flames, and with predictable results.
