Drug trafficking in Mexico has existed for several years and many people have lost their lives due to beheadings, car bombs, torture and kidnappings which are the direct result of this kind of circumstances. Since 2006, more than 92,000 people have lost their lives or have not been found because of it. The countries directly involved in the Mexican drug trade, also known as the Mexican Drug War, are Mexico and the United States. Mexico is involved because the problem is in Mexico and as a result many people are being tortured, murdered and exposed to various amounts of narcotics. The United States is also involved since it is “neighbor” to Mexico: the majority of cocaine, marijuana and methamphetamine that is not distributed in Mexico is destined for the United States. Mexico's drug war instills fear in all those affected by the killings and kidnappings. It also lowers the morale of the countries involved as a whole, because a country does not want more drugs coming into their country or being manufactured and distributed from their country. The United Nations was initially involved in regulating the distribution of narcotics in Geneva in 1931, but the UN has so far done little to help the Mexican government put an end to drug trafficking in Mexico. .
