Essay / Essay on Impact of Social Media - 659
The effects and impacts of social media on society are quite obvious and picturesque. People can do things they couldn't do 30 years ago, like communicate over a computer network instead of going to their home or work, and the general convenience of this is much appreciated. It has changed people's lives for the better and, in some cases, for the worse. One of the ways in which social media is changing society is that children no longer feel it necessary to talk face to face, and this is perfectly evidenced by the thousands of people who have Facebook pages; even the parents. The consequences of this have broken and, in some cases, divided families, as no one spends time together like they used to. An example of this is when a mother wants to spend time with her teenage daughter, but her teenage daughter seeks to find out who Darcy broke up with on Facebook, which Darcy never revealed. However, this neglect was brought to the mother by the social media that all the kids are talking about these days; the daughter also pays the price because she misses time with her mother. Many people, mainly teenagers, ignore family dictates because they are more tuned into society's social media, which is not that important. The impact of this is that people's family values suffer because social media on society causes everyone in society to compete against each other to try to become popular. For example, the captain of the basketball team has a Facebook announcing a party he is having at his house. Instead of the captain's circle of friends doing their homework, they party with the captain. As time goes by, everyone pays more and more attestation... middle of paper ... stops caring about her altogether. The effect of this is that it can go all over the internet and ruin that person, whether financially, personally or reputationally. The consequences of these actions are serious and extreme, to the point where people are ridiculed, isolated and, in some cases, intimidated. People ignore the concept of the havoc social media can wreak on the person(s) because it doesn't harm anyone. However, the effects and impacts that social media has had or has had cannot be so easily forgotten, as it changes the lives of many people every day. Unfortunately, some people get into a lot of trouble when using social media because they are not responsible for their social media and as everyone knows, all it takes is one small mistake and your business will be everyone's business. So be smart!
