Essay / Three Film Posters - 1696
IntroductionIn this essay, I will analyze three film posters and their remakes. The three movie posters I'm going to analyze are Psycho and The Secret Life of Walter Mitty. I will analyze these posters using the methods I learned in media analysis such as feminism, the male gaze, and audience theory, as well as techniques such as camera angles, lighting, etc. Using these concepts, I will analyze these posters and their remakes and see what changes, if any, were between the years the films were released. Feminism/Male Gaze (Background/Research) Feminism is a movement that began as a result of "radical social, political, and industrial changes in Europe and the United States." » When studying these posters and the films they represent, it is imperative to analyze them with a feminist lens. Since I consider myself a feminist, analyzing things like movies and movie posters can be fun. To achieve this, simply ask questions about the media and what they try to represent in everyday life. If we don't step back in our lives to think critically about things like this, which can be considered a trivial pastime, we will allow ourselves to be influenced by the images that the media tries to sell us, by the products to buy. and even how to behave in our lives. Media plays an important role in daily life and can make people feel unsafe. The definition of feminism is “a movement to end sexism, gender-based exploitation and oppression.” Just because you yourself don't see sexist and oppressive views about women in the media doesn't mean they aren't there and the problem has been solved. The problem of feminism is still strong, we must take...... middle of paper ......fr. This is far from the case, learning about things like feminism, the male gaze, etc. helped me realize that there are many examples of sexism in everyday life of sexism against women, but instead of looking at the negative side, we should look at what we have accomplished and are still fighting for. day when people, men and women, will no longer be used for their bodies in advertisements and films. Where they are not individuals, but just pretty faces to get a company's message across or for the majority of people to strive to be, but for the day when the media no longer needs sexualize a person to sell films or products. www.gender-focus.com/2013/06/26/how-to-do-feminist-t-analysis/http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gaze#The_.22male_gaze.22_in_feminist_theoryhttp://finallyfeminism101. wordpress.com/2007/08/26/faq-what-is-the-%E2%80%9Cmale-gaze%E2%80%9D/
