    “The future depends on what we do in the present. » Mohandas Gandhi spent his life teaching those around him about peace and equality. Gandhi saw the suffering of many people and found a way to completely and successfully change it. He did not resort to any violence and taught those who fought alongside him how to protest peacefully. Even today, he is remembered as a father of India and is greatly honored by the entire world. Mohandas Gandhi was a very influential person in the peace movement because he led the Indian independence movement, he proved that one man has the power to take over an empire and he influenced other leaders around the world through his nonviolent methods. The deviations of Mohandas Gandhi's career were at the head of the Indian independence movement. Gandhi began his activism as an Indian immigrant to South Africa in 1893, where he experienced his first form of discrimination. The discrimination against him and the difficulties faced by others encouraged him to develop a method of non-violence striving for justice based on courage and truth called Satyagraha. Satyagraha encouraged the use of civil disobedience and non-violence as a means to achieve political and social goals. On January 26, 1930, the Indian National Congress, led by Gandhi, publicly announced the Declaration of Independence of India. In 1930, Gandhi began one of his most provocative acts against the British. It was a direct action campaign of tax resistance and non-violent protest against the British salt monopoly in colonial India, which sparked the wider civil disobedience movement. As he continued this 24-day march to produce salt without paying the tax, increasing numbers of Indians joined him along the way. When he broke the salt laws, ...... middle of paper ......
