  • Essay / Nature vs. Nature Culture - 705

“Some findings, assuming they can be repeated, will not satisfy homosexual groups who want homosexuality to be considered a purely genetic trait. They also won't please commentators who see homosexuality as a choice made by "sinful" people. What they show is human sexual behavior in all its splendid complexity. (inspire.in.gov) Nature vs. Nurture is the debate over whether or not an individual is born homosexual or is homosexual based on who influences them and the environment they are in or around them. The "nature" side of the nature versus nurture debate is based on whether an individual is born homosexual. The “nurture” side of nature versus nurture occurs if an individual is taught, influenced, or otherwise affected by the environment and/or place in which he or she lives and with who he lives. Regardless, the individual is still homosexual. The way a child acts is significantly influenced by genes. (inspire.in.gov) Therefore, the child or individual may or may not be gay based on their family history or even their parents or siblings. But parents matter less than they think when it comes to the educational process. (inspire.in.gov) Growing up with two moms in my home, for as long as I can remember, I have vigorously supported same-sex marriage, but I couldn't imagine myself in a same-sex relationship. I will also never think that homosexuality is “disgusting” or “shameful for humanity”. I will never think that God hates gays or that I or my family will go to hell because of who we love. If in the future I meet someone of the same gender who I really love, I will accept that love. Although I've never really thought about meeting someone of the same sex as me who I find rather attractive in any way, physically or emotionally...... middle of paper ...... problem with humans loving other humans with the same sex? Whether we are born gay or are influenced by our environment, we are all humans and if you think about it, without any religion or opinion involved, we are all gay in one way or another. We are all the same. Works CitedGlass, Julia. Parenthood. December 99/January 2000, vol. 13 Issue 10, p156. 6 p.m. 12 color photographs. Siegel, Benjamin S.; Perrin, Ellen C. Pediatrics.
