It must be understood that the consent of the people is at the very heart of a government's ability to govern them. Essentially, it is about showing that no form of government can be in power if the citizens do not accept it. The common exception however is the case of tyranny and dictatorial rule, where citizens are made to obey as they are commanded, which in most cases leads to revolutions. Obviously, democracy is the best way to govern a people, because it gives them a chance and a voice in the government and businesses of the country as a whole (Ndou, 2004, p. 18). Historical data can bear this out, as there have been numerous rebellions against dictatorial leaders, all in favor of democracy. The current situation of poor democracy in various developing countries has, however, raised concerns about the effectiveness of this form of governance. . Many developing countries today face numerous challenges regarding their democratic governance. True to this statement, other countries like Chile have even been surprised by very oppressive forms of democracy, raising the question of whether democracy actually exists in such a state. Municipal and global entities have taken initiatives to try to better understand what exactly are the main obstacles to democratization in the developing world, as discussed in this article. It will therefore be an overview of the factors that challenge the existence of adequate democracy in developing countries, giving effect to the explanations through the use of different examples from real nations. Media, public information and selfish interest groups are considered the most critical aspects that pose a challenge to the growth of democracy in developing countries. However, all hope is not lost, as many countries that currently enjoy genuine democracy have found themselves in such situations at some point. All the obstacles to democratization mentioned are those that can be reversed and modified to improve the situation. However, it would be a lie to casually claim that change will come easily. Many efforts must be made to ensure that all affected or potential areas are treated quickly. As a result, these developing countries will be at least on par with other developed countries in terms of democracy..
